So here is the sun roof in the "real car". I need to work on the video clarity.

Sun roof fun

So it has been 3 months!! I've been slowly working on fitting an 87 Acura sunroof into the "junk" car for practice before installation into the real project. One picture is of using a router to make a template from the sunroof hole in the 89 Acura we have. Then pictures of the template being used on the junk car and the last the sunroof temporarily in place to check the fit.
